PRESS RELEASE: Mayor Dave Wood and the City of Mishawaka Indiana Proclaims First Ever Women’s Entrepreneurship Day

Mishawaka, Indiana - October 29, 2022: On November 7th the City of Mishawaka Common Council along with Mayor Dave Wood is celebrating the vital contributions women entrepreneurs make to the city's thriving economy, C2 Your Health Women's Initiative Inc. is excited to announce a collaboration with the City of Mishawaka.to officially proclaim November 19th as Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is an opportunity to spotlight and honor the critical role women-owned businesses play in strengthening our local economy and recognize the need for inclusive economic growth which typically excluded populations like women and communities of color.
Women Entrepreneurship Day is a movement to recognize and promote the advancement of women entrepreneurs, support women in business by encouraging women leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs to initiate startups, drive economic expansion, eradicating poverty and advance the Mishawaka community.
According to a 2017 study conducted by the National Association of Women Business Owners, in the United States more than11.6 million firms as owned by women, employing nearly 9 million people and generating $1.7 million in sales. According to that same 2017 study, women-owned comprise of 39% of all private firms, contributing to an estimated 8% of employment across the United States and 4,2% revenue.
According to the most recent United States Census reported July 2021 Saint Joseph County 11.8% (690) of business were women-owned and Mishawka women-owned 15% (192).
The U. S. Chamber of Commerce latest
survey indicated women-owned small businesses were the hardest hit and are less
likely to expect future success during as reported in 2020. Since the onset of
COVID-19 many minority women-owned businesses have closed and Mishawaka, Indiana is no
exception.

C2 Your Health Women's Initiative Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the success of women entrepreneurs through mentorship, resource gathering, leadership & skills development and confidence building. Working together with Mayor Dave Wood and the City of Mishawaka has made possible the official proclamation of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.
