Your Mission, Vision, Purpose Mindset
Do
you have a hobby or a business mindset? A hobby is defined as a activity, past time,
something you enjoy in your leisure when everything else is done. Or are you creating
a business career where you spend most of your time, serious effort, resources,
money, and requires the best of you. In other words do you have a business mindset?
Whether
you are just thinking about, getting started or a seasoned entrepreneur it’s always
a good time develop a business mindset. By creating a clear picture in your mind of where you are going in your business, by brainstorming, creating, and developing your business mission, vision and purpose statements you will solidify your business mindset and your business focus.
Most
entrepreneurs when creating a business have a vision of what you wanted to achieve,
and what your goal was but do you have it well thought out and written down? Putting
it to paper helps you get a clearer picture and a better idea where you are headed.
You mission, vision and purpose statements are telling the community what you believe, what your company stands for and helps you to stay focused.
What is the difference between the
mission, vision and purpose statements?
Mission Statement (purpose or the brand)
A mission statement is a
short statement of why your organization exists, what the overall
goal is, what kind of product or service you provide, who your primary
customers or market, and your business geographical region of operation. Your mission
statement answers the questions why, what, who and where. The Mission describes a company’s
desired contribution to the society, to its employees, and to others.
Vision Statement - (future based)
A vision statement is sometimes called a
picture of your company in the future and so much more. Your vision
statement is your inspiration, the framework for all your strategic planning.
What you are doing when creating a vision statement is articulating your dreams
and hopes what problems your business will solve in the future. The Vision describes a company’s
ideals.
Purpose Statement (defining your brand)
SCORE in the article Writing Your Business Purpose (and Why it Matters) describes a business purpose is the reason you have formed your
company boiled down to a single sentence (or two). It can be industry specific or general enough
to include ancillary and future business activities. To understand business
purpose, it is important to distinguish it from your company's vision or mission.
Once you are clear on what your company
stands for it is important to communicate it in your words and actions to your team,
staff, customers, and the community. Post your company’s Vision, Mission, Purpose
posted on the hallways of its building or on the main page of its website. In a
physical setting, the Vision, Mission, Purpose is typically framed beautifully
which signifies how much it is valued.
As a woman entrepreneur it’s
easy to get derailed by losing your business focus on the details of your life that
are important but not urgent. For women especially work – life balance is a constant
juggle. Having a business mindset, clearly defined Vision, Mission, Purpose to look up to and
remember will help your, your family remember where you are going, help keep your company stay on track.
