Renovate Your Resolutions: 6 Tips for Rocking Your 2024 New Year Goals

It's that time of the year again – the time when you boldly declare your grandiose plans for the next 365 days, armed with a list of resolutions that could rival a novel. But hold your horses, because I'm here to sprinkle a dash of wisdom and a whole lot of fun into your New Year Resolution goal-setting game. Buckle up, because we're about to embark on a Resolution Renovation!

1. Ditch the Overkill:
Sure, aiming for that laundry list of Big Hairy Audacious Goals sounds great and all, however many times too much of this can be a show-stopper for many. Instead of overwhelming yourself with a laundry list of big, complicated resolutions, pick a few that truly light your fire. To achieve your goals you might want to consider quality over quantity, my friends.

Renovation Tip: Imagine your resolutions are like a fine buffet – savor each dish instead of trying to devour the entire spread in one sitting. I recommend 3 - 5 goals each business quarter with daily, weekly, and monthly action plans that are designed to help you modify your behaviors, habits, and routines that when followed secure your ability easily and effortlessly to achieve your goals.

2. Be SMART About Your Goals:
Let's get SMART about this. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound – the five amigos of attainable goals. Break down your resolutions into bite-sized chunks and watch the magic happen.

RenovationTip: Break it down using SMART Goals to Get Fit
Specific: Define what "get fit" means to you. Employ specific daily behaviors like "walk 30 minutes every day." The more specific the behaviors the better add what time of day, who you are walking with, and where you are walking.

Measurable: Track your daily walks and, over time, assess your fitness level. When 30 minutes becomes a breeze, you'll know you're on the right track then add a plan for increasing your fitness level.

Achievable: Set realistic targets. Starting with 30 minutes of walking daily ensures that the goal is both challenging and doable. As you build stamina, you can increase time or intensity.

Relevant: Align your daily behaviors with the ultimate goal of fitness. Walking consistently contributes directly to improved fitness levels, sleep better, improved eating habits, better mood, weight management, and weight loss, making it a relevant and effective strategy.

Time-bound: Establish a timeline. Decide when you want to achieve certain milestones, such as comfortably completing a 30-minute walk. This creates urgency and helps you stay focused. An end goal would help too. Plan to participate in a community walk, run a festival, and celebrate your "wins" with friends and family!

3. Celebrate Mini Wins:
Rome wasn't built in a day, and your resolutions won't be either. Celebrate the small victories along the way – they're the building blocks of success.

Renovation Tip: Treat yourself to a little victory dance or a guilt-free indulgence when you hit those mini milestones. You deserve it! This is the most overlooked and the most important element of goal setting. Celebrating wins is a form of motivation for you and inspiration for others around you.

4. Collect Up Accountability Allies:
Don't go at it alone! Share your resolutions with friends or family who can be your cheerleaders and gentle nudgers when needed. A support system makes the journey way more enjoyable.

Renovation Tip: Set up regular check-ins with your accountability buddies – it turns goal chasing into a party! An accountability buddy helps you to remember you are not alone, it's someone who cheers you on, helps strategize behaviors, and reminds you to celebrate you.

5. Flexibility is a Skill Set:
Life is a rollercoaster, and so are our plans. Be open to tweaking your resolutions as you go along. A rigid approach might lead to burnout, and nobody wants that!

Renovation Tip: Embrace the detours; they often lead to unexpected and delightful discoveries. Winning and happiness are multi-faceted. As you walk towards fitness, you're not just sculpting your physique but also developing new skills, accomplishing daily tasks, and enhancing your social circle. The journey is about more than reaching a finish line – it's about thriving in the process.

6. Reflect and Reframe:
Take a moment to reflect on your progress. If a resolution isn't working, don't be afraid to pivot. It's not about giving up; it's about finding what truly resonates with you.

Renovation Tip: It's not failure; it's feedback. Adjust your sails and keep sailing toward that glorious horizon. So, this year you be the Resolution Renegade, kick off this year with a bang! Be on the lookout for the obstacles along the way, name them, and then make a plan to either, go around, through, or over what's in your way to achieving your goals. The great news is with your newfound flexibility, ability to reflect, reframe, and your accountability Allie you have everything you need to renovate your resolutions!

Remember, the key is not just in the destination but in the journey itself.
With a sprinkle of reason, a whole lot of positive vibes, and your new skill set you'll be turning those resolutions into reality in no time.

Here's to a year filled with growth, joy, and a truckload of achieved goals! You've got this!

Stay Healthy. Stay Connected. Stay You.
