International Women's Day originated out of the labor movements in North America and Europe during the early 20th century. T
he earliest version of
"Women's Day"  gathering was allegedly in New York City February 28, 1909.
Today March 8th, 2021 is set aside to celebrate women's achievements, to empower women moving forward and recognize there is still lots of work to be done near where you live and around the world. This day is dedicated to all women who have smashed the glass ceiling, taken a stand for, and given a voice to women who cannot speak for themselves.

It is our hope we come together on this day and everyday to take a few minutes to notice the women all around you who go unacknowledged, underappreciated, and unnoticed on a daily basis; let them know they are special, loved and with each action they make to improve their life and the life of another woman they know, they are making a difference for every woman.

.About International Women's Day IWD

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality.

International Women's Day has occurred for well over a century with the first gathering held in 1911. Learn more about the day's timeline.

International Women's Day is not country, group, nor organization specific. No one government, NGO, charity, corporation, academic institution, women's network, or media hub is solely responsible for International Women's Day. The day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist, nor to any one organization, but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights."  So make International Women's Day your day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women.
