It is January, time to set your business goals. Your #1 goal should be to find a women entrepreneur business mentor, better yet a mentoring program. As a woman entrepreneur with 30 years experience in project development, award winning business development and new business startups my best advice given the state of entrepreneurship in our country and around the world is to get into a women entrepreneur mentoring program as fast as you can. In the life of an entrepreneur business each and every day counts. The days of wait and see how it goes are pretty much over. You are either closer to business success or further away there really is not middle ground.
As a woman entrepreneur you can only gain so much from a book, a class or a seminar. Whatever knowledge you do gain 50% is gone within the first 24 hours and of that only 10% you actually into action. You know this is true. How many books, seminars have you attended all jazzed up ready to conquer the world to only put a small percentage into action or none at all?
A strong resilient entrepreneur business starts with and builds on a strong foundation just like the building you are living in. Wherever you live, think about the foundation upon which your house (or condominium or apartment) is built. The foundation carries the weight of the whole building in its shoulders, is the strong durable base for the walls, the roof and protects everything in you home including you. Without a solid foundation the house will not stand the test of time.
The same is true for your business. It is just as important for your business to have a good solid foundation just as it is for you home. Your business foundation will need to be strong and you self confident to bounce back from disasters such as economy slowdowns, personal challenges and yes, even pandemics.
The key is to developing a strong business foundation is mentorship. Not just one mentor but to learn from many women entrepreneurs with different skill sets who are on the entrepreneur journey with you, who you have a shared experience, lived the struggle, gained experience and triumphed over adversity gaining success leaving you with the feeling they did it so can you. A woman entrepreneur mentor is someone who has achieved an level of success, shares information about her own entrepreneur journey, provides guidance, motivation, emotional support, role modeling and accountability speeding up your learning curve. You directly gain from their knowledge and experience saving you time and your money to learn on your own.
Studies show women entrepreneurs are more likely to succed within a mentoring program. But not just any mentoring program and not just any mentor.
