Today is the 1st Day of Women's History Month - 17 Ways to Celebrate

March is Women's History Month.
Throughout Women’s History Month we celebrate the contributions of strong women from the past and present. While it’s important to celebrate women all year long, Congress sets aside one month each year to recognize the sacrifices made by women, for women, to help make the lives of women in our local communities, our country and the world a fairer, safer place for all women.

President Jimmy Carter issued the first Presidential Proclamation in 1980 declaring the week of March 8th as National Women’s History Week. In 1987 when Congress designated March as Women’s History Month each year a the proclamation is renewed.

For all of you who are wondering how to celebrate, here's list of different ways you can honor influential women in your life today, women who are making history for us today and those women in the past who have influenced our lives today, during women's history month.

Women have been making strides towards equality for all women every day in our communities, making history every day through their actions and words. Whether it be a huge legal impact like the passing of the 19th Amendment (women's voting rights), or a minor one like uplifting one another, women continue to support each other and fight for their place in history.

Remember you are the woman in history making strides for your daughter, and all little girls and young women in your life. They're watching you, what will they say about you in years to come?
